Abdominoplasty

What happens during an abdominoplasty?

During the 2-3 hour-long tummy tuck procedure, an incision is made so that our surgeons can remove the excess skin and fat tissue from the abdominal wall and tighten the abdominal muscles to help you achieve a flatter, more toned stomach. An incision is also made at the belly button to be repositioned to finish the procedure.

It is also optional to combine your abdominoplasty procedure with liposuction to gain optimal results. Our surgeons will happily discuss this with you if you are so inclined.

Everybody recovers at a different pace.

During recovery from your abdominoplasty, you will stay at our hospital, where our plastic surgeons will monitor you to ensure the healing process begins smoothly. It is recommended that you take three to four weeks off work, including household chores and avoid all heavy lifting and exercise for at least four weeks to allow your body to recover from a tummy tuck fully. An abdominal brace will have to be worn to support the healing process.
